Mumbai, 13 August: Urban centers rapidly turning into vast concrete landscapes are set for a major environmental revival as the Government of Maharashtra greenlights a dedicated fund of 2,95,59,000 under the ambitious Solid Afforestation Programme at the Community Level. This crucial financial boost marks a transformative phase in the state’s social forestry efforts, directly targeting high-density urban and industrial circles such as Nagpur, Pune, and Amravati to restore ecological equilibrium and enhance quality of life.

By cutting through traditional administrative delays and streamlining resource allocation via the Budget Estimation, Allocation and Monitoring System (BEAMS), the state government has accelerated the rollout of dense urban micro-forests. Central to this environmental push is the innovative Atal Anand Ghanvan framework, which expands intensive tree plantation models such as Miyawaki-style dense forestry beyond rural boundaries into municipal corporations, cantonments, and industrial belts.

This targeted expansion encompasses prominent urban corridors including Pandharpur, Barshi, Mohol, Malshiras, and Madha in Solapur district, along with key urban clusters across Amravati, Akola, and Wardha.
