Amitesh Rao has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Leo Burnett South Asia within the Publicis Groupe, succeeding Dheeraj Sinha, who departed the agency last year to join FCB. Rao joins Leo Burnett from McCann, where he served as the Executive Director, overseeing operations in the North and West regions.

In his new role, Rao’s responsibilities will encompass Leo Burnett Orchard, alongside the oversight of Publicis Health and Publicis Business. He will directly report to Anupriya Acharya, the CEO of Publicis Groupe South Asia.

Previously, Rao was associated with McCann India, where he served as the Executive Director, overseeing North and West Operations. Before his role at McCann, he held positions at TBWA, Rediffusion, and JWT. Throughout his advertising career, he worked extensively with clients including PepsiCo, Airtel, Nestle, Reckitt, Coke, Mastercard, and Nissan, spanning various markets. In addition to his advertising background, his expertise in marketing and sales extends into the Telco and Data space, with experience at MTS and RPG.
