It’s Official: Mirzapur will hit the Big Screen in 2026

Amazon has officially announced the highly anticipated return of Mirzapur, but this time, fans will experience the crime thriller on the big screen. The popular Indian web series, known for its gritty storyline and unforgettable characters, will make its theatrical debut in 2026, with streaming on Prime Video available just eight weeks after its release. 

Following the success of Mirzapur’s third season, Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment have teamed up to expand the franchise with a feature film. Set to be directed by Gurmmeet Singh and created by Puneet Krishna, the movie will bring back the series’ iconic characters, including Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal), and Munna Tripathi (Divyenndu). Joining them will be Abhishek Banerjee in his role as the compounder, along with other familiar faces from the Mirzapur universe. The film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, promising an immersive experience that will heighten the franchise’s signature intensity. 

In a joint statement on social media, Amazon and the producers expressed excitement for Mirzapur the film, sparking a wave of anticipation among fans. Farhan Akhtar shared the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Ab bhaukaal bhi bada hoga, aur parda bhi. #MirzapurTheFilm, coming soon,” which translates to, “The intensity will be bigger, and so will the screen.” 

The Mirzapur movie aims to deliver a cinematic spectacle that builds on the series’ massive popularity, drawing audiences both familiar with the franchise and new to its gripping storyline. The film will be released in theaters across India and internationally, before streaming to Prime members in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. Fans can look forward to seeing Mirzapur evolve from the digital screen to the cinema, bringing even more drama, action, and excitement to this beloved universe. 

As the countdown to 2026 begins, the teaser alone has generated significant buzz across social media, with audiences eager to see their favorite characters in a larger-than-life format.
