After years of hype, Apple has unveiled the much-anticipated augmented reality headset, Apple Vision Pro, in its first major hardware launch for almost a decade.

The new device, packed with cameras and sensors, looks like a futuristic pair of ski goggles and can immerse a wearer in virtual reality but also blend in the real-world elements of augmented reality. The headset has a two-hour battery life, will cost $3,499, and will be available “early next year.”

“This is a day that’s been years in the making,” said CEO Tim Cook, who announced the new product at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference held at its sparkling Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California. “I believe that augmented reality is a profound technology.”
