Apple Inc. said it shut down third-party applications that enabled Android devices to use the iMessage service to communicate with iPhone users.
The statement from the iPhone maker highlighted measures taken to safeguard users by preventing the exploitation of false credentials to access iMessage. The company affirmed its commitment to ongoing improvements aimed at ensuring user protection.
This declaration follows the recent halt of Beeper Mini, an app that allowed iMessage functionality on Android devices. Apple’s iMessage, renowned for encrypted communication across its devices, has maintained its exclusivity to Apple-made products, resisting calls for expansion to Android over nearly a decade.
