Praggnanandhaa heads to World Cup Chess Finals, beating Fabiano Caruana

#RPraggnanandhaa maintains his unbeaten streak at the FIDE Chess World Cup as he defeated World No. 3 Fabiano Caruana in a riveting tiebreaker, setting the stage for an upcoming face-off against Norway’s Magnus Carlsen in the final, scheduled today.

The 18-year-old defeated the highly rated American GM in a tense tie-breaker after the two-game classical series finished in a 1-1 draw.

After the renowned Bobby Fischer and Carlsen, Praggnanandhaa has qualified for the Candidates tournament as the third-youngest player. He is also the first Indian to reach the World Cup final since the knockout format was introduced in 2005.
