ST’s NCMC Smart Card Project Gains Momentum; 6.286 Million Registrations Across Maharashtra, 3.552 Million Cards Activated

Mumbai, July 2: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has witnessed an overwhelming response to its National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) project across the state. As of June 30, 2026, a total of 6,286,765 passengers have registered for the NCMC Smart Card, while 3,552,332 cards have been activated, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced.

The Minister said that from August 1, 2026, the NCMC Smart Card will be mandatory for women, senior citizens, and Amrit Senior Citizens to avail themselves of travel concessions. Eligible passengers who have not yet registered have been urged to complete the process at authorised enrolment centres before the deadline.

Among all MSRTC regions, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar recorded the highest registrations with 1,593,256 passengers, including 886,473 activated cards. Pune ranked second with 1,471,436 registrations, followed by Nashik with 1,438,069 registrations.

At the divisional level, Jalgaon topped the list with 463,230 registrations, followed by Ahilyanagar (395,515), Satara (348,418), Solapur (342,242), Buldhana (331,011) and Beed (327,709).

MSRTC has prioritised the NCMC initiative to strengthen digital ticketing, streamline passenger concessions, and promote the “One Nation, One Card” vision. The Corporation will further intensify its campaign to activate the remaining registered cards and ensure that every eligible passenger in Maharashtra receives an NCMC Smart Card, the Minister added.
