PUC Certificate Fees Revised in Maharashtra

Two-wheelers to pay 60; diesel vehicles to pay 180

Mumbai, August 24: The Maharashtra Transport Department has revised the fees charged for Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates for motor vehicles in the state. The revised rates have been approved by the department, making it mandatory for all PUC centres across Maharashtra to charge the prescribed fees.

The Maharashtra State PUC Centre Owners’ Association had demanded an increase in PUC testing fees. To examine the demand, the Transport Department constituted a three-member committee. The committee studied the prevailing PUC testing charges in other states and various related factors before submitting its report recommending a revision in the fees.

According to the revised rates, the PUC testing fee for two-wheelers has been increased from 50 to 60. For petrol-powered three-wheelers, the fee has been revised from 100 to 120. For vehicles running on petrol, CNG or LPG, the fee has been increased from 125 to 150. The fee for diesel-powered vehicles has been revised from 150 to 180 Rs.

The owners of all PUC centres have been directed to prominently display boards showing the revised fees at visible locations on their premises.

The Transport Department has also instructed concerned officials to ensure that the revised rates are being implemented at all PUC centres and that motorists are not charged more than the prescribed fees. The department has directed that the Vayuveg squads be given necessary instructions to monitor compliance with the revised fee structure.
