CM Fadnavis Orders Historic Legal Reforms to Block Parole

Mumbai: In a decisive move to ensure that perpetrators of heinous sexual crimes remain behind bars indefinitely, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a landmark legal intervention following the brutal rape and murder of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in Nasrapur, Pune District.

Amidst a wave of public outrage sweeping through the state, the Chief Minister issued strict directives during today’s Cabinet meeting to amend existing laws, effectively closing legal loopholes that currently allow sex offenders to re-enter society.

Eliminating the Parole Loophole, The Cabinet discussion focused heavily on preventing repeat offenses facilitated by temporary release mechanisms. It was revealed that the primary suspect in the Nasrapur case, Bhimrao Kamble, was a habitual offender previously charged under the POCSO Act and other molestation laws, yet continued to move freely within the community.

To address this systemic failure, Chief Minister Fadnavis has ordered the Law and Judiciary Department to immediately draft an amendment that strictly prohibits the granting of parole to individuals convicted of sexual exploitation. The objective is clear: to ensure that such offenders serve their full sentences without any possibility of a “legal escape” through temporary release.

SIT Formation and Fast-Track Justice

To ensure a watertight legal case, the state government has officially constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to spearhead the probe. The accused, Bhimrao Kamble, is currently in police custody. Government officials stated that this legislative overhaul is intended to instill a permanent fear of the law among criminals and to guarantee that “wolves” in society are permanently neutralized.

Case Background: A Tragedy that Shook the State

The brutal incident occurred last Friday in Nasrapur, where a toddler was subjected to sexual assault and subsequently murdered. The perpetrator attempted to conceal the crime by hiding the victim’s body under a heap of manure, an act of extreme depravity that sparked massive protests.

The incident led to the blockage of the Pune-Bengaluru Highway by grieving locals and has triggered intense demonstrations from Solapur to Pune. In response to the societal anger, the government has vowed to seek the death penalty through a Fast-Track Court, bolstered by the appointment of a Special Public Prosecutor to ensure swift and maximum punishment.
