The controversy originated from an English-language post shared on the social media platform X by an account named @AstroPrashnath9. The text urged India to maintain heightened vigilance during August 2026, marking the period from August 9 to August 18 as exceptionally sensitive due to potential actions by Pakistan-backed operatives. The message gained rapid traction online before another user, operating the handle @tstark86v1, brought it to the direct attention of the authorities by tagging the official Mumbai Police account.

Taking swift action, the Mumbai Police Cyber Cell initiated technical verification to track the source of the claim. Investigators are currently tracing the account’s digital footprint, location data, and underlying motives to determine if the post is linked to an organized network or deliberate misinformation campaign.
