Mumbai, June 24: The Maharashtra Government is committed to ensuring that every citizen has access to a permanent home, and there is no shortage of funds for the state’s housing scheme, Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore informed the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. He assured that installment payments to beneficiaries would not be halted under any circumstances.

Replying to a question raised by MLA Sameer Kunawar, the minister said the state has set a target of completing 1.5 million houses within the next year. He noted that Maharashtra had received a target of more than 2.9 million houses last year. Of these, 2.817 million beneficiaries were identified, and approvals were granted for 2.785 million houses.

So far, the first installment has been released for more than 2.6 million houses, the second installment for over 1.7 million houses, and the third installment for more than 1.1 million houses. A total of 605,596 houses have been completed, making Maharashtra the first state in the country to complete 600,000 houses in a single year.

Gore said the state received ₹5,290 crore for the scheme in 2025-26 and ₹13,947 crore in 2026-27. He explained that some delays in installment payments occurred due to technical issues in the Centre’s SPARSH online fund distribution system, but the process is now functioning smoothly.

The minister also stated that beneficiaries who do not own land can receive up to ₹1 lakh from the government to purchase land for constructing their homes.
