Projects Signed During Davos Summit to Be Fast-Tracked Across the State

Ten Senior Officials Assigned to Oversee 100 Key Projects

Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Maharashtra is preparing to become one of India’s leading data centre hubs, as the state government accelerates the implementation of major investment projects signed during the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

The Chief Minister was speaking during a high-level review meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai to assess the progress of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed at the Davos summit. The meeting also reviewed the implementation of projects under Maharashtra’s Information Technology and Support Services Policy and the Integrated Green Data Centre Park Policy–2024.

Minister of State Madhuri Misal, Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy Department Abha Shukla, Principal Secretary of the Industries Department Dr. P. Anbalagan, Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) Chief Executive Officer P. Velarasu, City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) Managing Director Vijay Singhal and other senior officials attended the meeting.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed government departments to complete land allocation, environmental clearances, construction approvals and other administrative permissions within a fixed timeline. He instructed officials to proactively coordinate with companies instead of waiting for follow-ups from investors.

To ensure timely implementation of the projects linked to the Davos agreements, the state government will appoint ten senior officers from MIDC, the Directorate of Industries and Mantralaya. Each officer will be entrusted with monitoring and ensuring the completion of ten major projects related to industrial development, infrastructure, education, smart cities, data centres and sustainable development.

The Chief Minister said Maharashtra is rapidly emerging as a preferred destination for data centre investments and several large projects are currently in the “investment in progress” stage. He said the state has sufficient availability of power and water required for large-scale data centre operations, making Maharashtra well-positioned to become a national data centre hub.

Emphasising the need for faster implementation, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed officials to simplify administrative procedures, increase land availability and strengthen infrastructure support for upcoming projects.

He said Navi Mumbai is emerging as the state’s primary data centre hub, with major developments underway in Mahape and nearby areas. The government is also planning to develop Khalapur as another important data centre cluster, while infrastructure development in the Panvel region is being strengthened to support future investments.

The Chief Minister further noted that Maharashtra’s upcoming manufacturing investments include major projects in electronics, semiconductor chips, aerospace, textiles, automobiles and defence sectors. In the services sector, priority is being given to data centres, Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Services (IT-ITES), fintech and Global Capability Centre (GCC) projects.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also reviewed various CIDCO projects and directed officials to expedite work related to the Aerocity university project, logistics parks, entertainment hubs, data centres and studio apartment developments.
