Maharashtra–Hesse Partnership Opens New Avenues for Investment, Jobs and Technology

Mumbai: Maharashtra and Germany’s Hesse state have entered into a landmark partnership aimed at strengthening investment, innovation, employment, technology and skill development.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in Mumbai in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Hesse Minister-President Boris Rhein, seeks to deepen economic and institutional ties between the two regions.

The agreement focuses on industry, services, information technology, skilled workforce and cross-border mobility, with opportunities in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, automobiles, logistics, financial services, digital technology and artificial intelligence.

The partnership also links Mumbai and Frankfurt, two major financial centres, creating scope for stronger business and commercial cooperation.

Fadnavis invited Hesse universities to participate in Maharashtra’s proposed Education City in Navi Mumbai, supporting research, higher education and international collaboration.

A Joint Working Group and regular Maharashtra–Hesse Business Dialogues will help implement the agreement and identify investment opportunities.

A key priority will be specialised skill training for Maharashtra’s youth, aligned with German labour-market requirements, opening pathways to international employment.

The partnership is expected to build a strong bridge between Maharashtra’s growing economy and Germany’s industrial and technological capabilities.
