Maharashtra Govt Hikes Dearness Allowance to 262% for Employees Under 6th Pay Commission; 7 Months of Arrears to Be Paid in Cash
MUMBAI: In a significant financial relief for state government employees drawing salaries under the unrevised 6th Pay Commission structure, the Government of Maharashtra has officially increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) rate from 257% to 262%. The state Finance Department issued a government resolution formalizing the 5% DA hike.
The revision has been made effective retrospectively from January 1, 2026. Consequently, all eligible state government personnel, Zilla Parishad staff, and employees of government-aided institutions will receive their accumulated seven months of arrears covering the period from January 2026 to July 2026 directly in cash alongside their August 2026 salary disbursement.
