Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has approved financial assistance of over ₹121.87 crore for farmers whose crops were damaged by unseasonal rains during March, April and May 2026. The relief package is expected to benefit thousands of affected farmers across the state.

According to the first Government Resolution (GR), ₹106.56 crore has been sanctioned for crop losses caused by unseasonal rains in April and May 2026 across the Nagpur, Nashik, Konkan and Pune divisions. The assistance will cover crop damage spread over more than 61,162 hectares, benefiting 95,789 farmers in districts including Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Ahilyanagar, Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Thane, Sindhudurg and Kolhapur.

In a separate GR, the government approved ₹13.27 crore for farmers affected by unseasonal rains in March 2026 in the Amravati and Nagpur divisions. The relief will support 14,716 farmers whose crops on around 7,934 hectares were damaged in Akola, Buldhana and Bhandara districts.

Additionally, ₹2.02 crore has been sanctioned for 2,506 farmers in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed and Latur districts, where crops on 1,242 hectares were damaged by unseasonal rains in April 2026.

The government has directed that all relief payments be transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to ensure transparency and prevent duplication. Officials have also been instructed to ensure that banks do not adjust or recover any outstanding loans from the disaster relief amount, allowing farmers to receive the full benefit of the assistance.
