MUMBAI, AUGUST 19: The Maharashtra Government has announced a 9-percentage-point increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for eligible government employees, Zilla Parishad staff and employees of aided institutions covered under the Fifth Pay Commission’s unrevised pay structure.

According to a Government Resolution issued by the Finance Department on August 18, 2026, the DA has been increased from 474% to 483%, with retrospective effect from January 1, 2026.

Employees will receive arrears for the seven-month period from January to July 2026 along with their August 2026 salary. The arrears will be paid in cash as per existing rules governing DA disbursement.

The decision is expected to provide significant financial relief to employees covered under the unrevised pay structure, as the accumulated seven-month arrears will be released along with the current month’s salary.
