Joint Meeting on August 11 to Plan Ganeshotsav 2026 in Mumbai

Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha to Meet Ganeshotsav Mandals, Civic and Police Officials

Mumbai, August 10, 2026: Ahead of Ganeshotsav 2026, a joint coordination meeting of representatives of Ganeshotsav mandals across Mumbai will be held on Tuesday, August 11, at 2:30 pm at the BMC D Ward office, Second Floor Hall, Nana Chowk.

State Cabinet Minister and Co-Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburban District Mangal Prabhat Lodha will attend the meeting and interact with representatives of various Ganeshotsav mandals.

Ganeshotsav is celebrated on a large scale across Mumbai, with several prominent mandals bringing their idols to Girgaon Chowpatty for immersion. With thousands of devotees expected to participate in the festivities, effective coordination between the administration, civic authorities, police and mandals is crucial for ensuring smooth and safe celebrations.

The meeting will focus on preparations for the festival, which will be celebrated from September 14 to September 25, 2026. Representatives of Ganesh mandals and coordination committees, corporators from South Mumbai, police and traffic officials, BMC D Ward officials, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation, Fire Brigade, BEST, Customer Service Centre and other concerned departments are expected to participate.

Traffic, Transport, Cleanliness and Safety on Agenda

Key issues to be discussed include increasing BEST bus services and frequency, extending Mumbai Metro service frequency and operating hours, and providing additional public mobile toilets at important locations.

The meeting will also review arrangements for maintaining cleanliness at public places and beaches, manpower requirements, permissions and electricity connections for Ganesh mandals, and deployment of additional sea safety personnel to prevent accidents during immersion.

Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha has appealed to representatives of Ganeshotsav mandals to attend the meeting and share their suggestions and concerns. The objective is to ensure that Ganeshotsav 2026 is celebrated peacefully, safely and in a disciplined manner while maintaining strong coordination between the administration and festival organisers.
