Welcomed the first-ever coal railway rake from MAHAGENCO’s Gare Palma Sector-2 coal mine in Chhattisgarh, arriving at the Koradi Thermal Power Station. This historic moment marks a decisive step in strengthening Maharashtra’s energy security and developing Vidarbha as a powerhouse of the state.
The availability of high-grade coal from the Gare Palma mine will enhance energy generation capacity while requiring less coal for power production compared to earlier. This development will not only contribute to environmental balance but also help lower electricity costs.
It will play a crucial role in eliminating load shedding across the state and make it easier to ensure a reliable daytime power supply for farmers. At the same time, it will support environmental conservation efforts, lower electricity costs, and ensure the fulfilment of future energy demands. The Gare Palma coal mine has been allocated to MahaGenco, ensuring the availability of high-grade coal for the next 77 years.
This project will significantly bolster the state’s energy security, reduce the risk of future power shortages, and mark an important step towards long-term sustainable development. Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and other dignitaries were present.
