In a disturbing incident reported from Chembur, a man identified as Asgar Ansari, suspected to be a Bangladeshi national, has been arrested by the Mumbai Police for allegedly stalking and molesting minor girls. According to police sources, the accused targeted 12-year-old girls who were playing within a housing society in the Chembur area. The case has been registered under the POCSO Act, which deals with offences against children.
The FIR was filed following a complaint lodged by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya along with local residents. Acting on this complaint, the police arrested the accused and began further investigation. The information about the incident and subsequent police action was shared by Somaiya through a tweet, in which he also stated that he would visit Chembur Police Station at 5:30 PM to review the situation and interact with officials. The police are currently verifying the identity and background of the suspect.
The incident has raised serious concerns among residents regarding the safety of children in residential areas, prompting demands for stricter vigilance and enhanced security measures.
