Sunflower Procurement in Karnataka
The government has approved the procurement of 9,023 metric tonnes of sunflower in Karnataka under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for the Rabi 2026 season. The MSP value of this decision is over Rs 69.66 crore.
This move is expected to help sunflower farmers receive fair and remunerative prices and protect them from selling their produce at lower market rates.
Gram Procurement Increased in Maharashtra
In Maharashtra the government has significantly increased the procurement limit for gram to 8,19,882 metric tonnes for the Rabi 2025–26 season. The MSP value of this decision exceeds Rs 4,816.80 crore.
The procurement period has also been extended by 30 days until May 29, 2026, allowing more farmers to benefit from MSP and avoid distress sales.
Support for Farmers and Market Stability
These decisions aim to provide financial relief to farmers and ensure price stability in agricultural markets. By expanding procurement and extending timelines, the government seeks to create a more secure and predictable environment for farmers.
Government’s Commitment
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Centre has reiterated its commitment to farmer welfare. The latest measures are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the MSP system, improve transparency, and support farmers’ incomes across the country.
