‘Sold your soul’: Anurag Kashyap takes sharp swipe at Delhi Police 

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has criticized the actions of the police in Delhi when clashes broke out during the protests in the capital regarding the news about the corrupt education system and the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper being leaked. His statements came after the videos of police personnel using batons and firing tear gas at peaceful protesters went viral on the internet. 

The police said they were forced to use this method to control the crowd due to the violent protests. However, the activists and leaders of the civil society claimed the police used excessive force and expressed doubts about police brutality. 

The social activist expressed his unhappiness on social media and expressed his anger at the policemen who acted against the protestors but did not give any details about the protests or the police firing. 

Now, on Monday evening, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap took to Instagram and wrote in Hindi: “Wardi pehenne ke liye aatma ka, aatmiyta ka, sabka sauda karna padta hai. Maloom nahi tha. Kya ek police wala hai is desh mein jo khada ho ke bol sake main iss Aadesh ka palan nahin karoonga kyonki ye galat hai (I didn’t know that wearing a uniform requires selling your soul and conscience. Is there even one police officer in this country who can stand up and say, ‘I will not follow this order because it is wrong’?)” he wrote, in an apparent criticism of the events that unfolded during the demonstrations. 

The protests intensified on Monday as members of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) tried to approach the Parliament in connection with their demands about the NEET-UG paper leak controversy.  Delhi Police said the protesters became violent and refused to heed several warnings for dispersal while violating prohibitory orders and clashing with security forces. The police said more than 118 of its personnel got injured because of the violence. 

The protesters, though, contradicted the police version and alleged that the police used excessive force indiscriminately against them, injuring many of them. 

Meanwhile, in the turmoil, the Cockroach Janata Party’s delegation met Union Health Minister JP Nadda and presented its demands. The minister urged the protesters to end their protest. 

After the meeting, CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said that the delegation had asked for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, compensation of Rs. 1 crore for the family of the NEET aspirants who lost their lives due to the incident, and the immediate release of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is hospitalized. 

Das said that the protests will continue till the education minister resigns.
