Mumbai, May 13: Overcoming the hardships dealt by fate early in life hundreds of children residing in state-run care homes (Balghars) have achieved remarkable success in this year’s Class 10 (SSC) board examinations.

Despite facing adverse circumstances, the absence of a family umbrella and numerous psychological challenges 715 students from various care homes under the Women and Child Development Department have passed the exams proving that hard work knows no boundaries.

Statistical Success: Pune District Leads the Way

Students from care homes across various districts in the state have made their mark on the results. According to the data:

Pune District recorded the highest number of successful candidates with 118 students passing the exam.

Mumbai Suburban followed with 88 successful students.

Ahilyanagar recorded 80 passing students, while Beed saw 47 students succeed.

Notable performances were also recorded in Thane (42), Solapur (39), and Kolhapur (34).

The Sound of Quality: Soaring Beyond 95%

The achievement was not limited to passing alone; many students stunned observers by scoring over 90%:

In Kolhapur, the top-ranking student from a care home earned a stellar 95.20%, gaining state-wide recognition.

In Beed district, the first-rank holder scored 94%, while the second rank holder secured 92.40%.

A significant number of students in districts like Pune, Solapur, Mumbai, and Dharashiv recorded scores exceeding 85%.

Strategic Preparation: Online Sessions and Special Coaching

This success was the result of meticulous planning by the Women and Child Development Department. To prepare these children for the academic challenge:

Special online sessions were organized specifically for Class 10 students.

Special coaching classes were conducted by teachers, and consistent practice exams were held to boost the students’ confidence.

Comprehensive counseling and guidance programs ensured the children were mentally resilient and ready for the examinations.

Commendation from Minister Aditi Tatkare

Expressing her joy over the results the Minister for Women and Child Development, Aditi Tatkare, lauded the students’ efforts. “These students have overcome immense adversity to embrace a positive path in life. We are proud of their success and the government will provide all necessary support for their further education,” she stated. She further emphasized that the state would continue to strive toward providing educational facilities and career guidance for these children.

A New Dawn of Struggles and Dreams

For children living in care homes the Class 10 exam is more than just an academic milestone; it is an opportunity to forge a unique identity. While student numbers were lower in regions like Latur, Nashik, Nagpur, and Nandurbar, the quality of the results there remained exemplary. Even without the traditional support of a home or parents, the dreams these children nurtured within the walls of state care homes are now beginning to take flight.
