Mahima Kaul, who previously served as Bumble’s Director of Public Policy for the APAC region, has joined Netflix India as the Director of Public Policy.

Regarding her new role at Netflix, Kaul expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I am absolutely delighted to have joined Netflix today to lead public policy in India. After spending considerable time on social media and apps, I am excited about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for OTTs and streaming services, as well as the broader structural policy work, we will be tackling.”

Kaul’s career began as a researcher at the Center for Policy Research. She has since worked with Orion Publishing, The Indian Express, NewsX, Digital Empowerment Foundation, Observer Research Foundation, and Twitter.

At Bumble, Kaul led the company’s approach to dating app safety regulations in Australia, including developing policy positions on AI-enabled harm and ‘safety by design,’ and managing compliance across different jurisdictions. She also represented Bumble in the media.

During her tenure at Twitter as Head of Public Policy and Government Partnerships for India, Kaul managed the company’s interactions with policymakers, elected officials, government agencies, and NGOs in India, overseeing direct policy programs in these areas.
