Raja Shivaji has just released its teaser, and already it looks like a huge, emotional historical movie.

The film is about the life and legacy of King Shivaji Maharaj and chronicles the journey to establish Swarajya; Riteish Deshmukh, who both directs and stars in this movie, is portraying Shivaji Maharaj in such a way that you can feel his passion and dedication. The teaser itself has already generated anticipation from its first showing (in theatres, attached with the film Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge), as well as from this online release (now that everyone can see it).

The first look teaser showcases the amazing armies with formations, incredible forts, and the most powerful visuals, and moments of resolve that hint at a leader shaped by purpose and resistance. It is apparent that there will be a great deal of visual power and emotional reflection, as it is a story of a young warrior facing powerful forces and trying to carve out his own kingdom.

The ensemble cast really stands out in the teaser. Sanjay Dutt will be portraying the intense and wicked Afzal Khan, and just a small glimpse at him conveys the threat he will pose in the story. Also, Abhishek Bachchan will be playing Sambhaji, the son of Shivaji, who appears to have a layered father-son relationship and will therefore bring added depth to the story.

Fardeen Khan will be taking on the role of Aurangzeb and will convey the political strife surrounding the rise of Shivaji. He will add an additional layer to the power struggle that will be explored in the film. Genelia Deshmukh is playing Saibai, the wife of Shivaji, and her warmth will create an emotional anchor for the story. Vidya Balan, portraying Chand Bibi, also made an impression in her short scene, as it apparently seems that there will be a strong female presence in the story as well.

In addition, the teaser appeared to suggest that this is not simply a war film, but one about vision, sacrifice, and identity. There are moments of silence, strategy, and introspection that balance out the action-heavy sequences. The background score adds depth of quality to the trailer by creating a build-up of excitement without disclosing too much information.

Mounted on a large scale and huge cast, Raja Shivaji is not simply going to be retold, but instead, it wants to try and create an immersive experience in cinemas for audiences. Presented by Jio Studios and produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh under the banner of Mumbai Film Company, it is set to release in cinemas worldwide in Marathi, Hindi, and Telugu.
