The most surprising movie success of 2026 now comes home! After becoming a worldwide phenomenon at the box office, the sleeper hit psychological horror film ‘Obsession’ is coming to your home for you to experience another of 2026’s unsuspected blockbuster hits.

Curry Barker directed the film, which stars Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette and tells a gripping supernatural thriller that amazed audiences while only having an approximately $750,000 (about Rs. 7 crore) budget. The film went on to earn nearly $370 million at the worldwide box office and demonstrated that good storytelling is just as powerful as big-budget studio films.

When and where to watch Obsession?

Obsession will be released digitally on Apple TV on June 30, 2027, as part of its Premium Video-on-Demand (PVOD) release. While streaming on a subscription basis won’t be available, you can rent the movie on Apple TV. The digital version will also include an unrated version of the film with more footage and scenes from the movie that were removed from the theatrical version.

The streaming debut was pushed from the originally planned date because Obsession continued to do exceptionally well in theatres. The amazing run the film has had in theatres allowed Focus Features to keep delaying its digital release as well by extending the time the movie had to do well in theatres.

Obsession follows the story of a young music store employee whose life changes drastically when he discovers an enchanted object that has the ability to grant him a wish. Initially used as a means of trying to win over his childhood love, the object ends up causing him untold trouble, ultimately becoming the cause of his nightmares. Obsession is a unique blend of psychological and supernatural horror that has received strong critical acclaim due to its eerie tone and its depth of feeling.

The cast is made up of Johnston and Navarrette, plus supporting cast members, including Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter. Obsession created huge excitement after its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival, and now it continues to be one of the best-performing films of the year.

For those who have seen it in theatres, the unrated version has some new footage, along with some previously deleted scenes, which create a deeper experience for moviegoers. As Obsession makes its way from theatres to digital distribution, it will likely bring in many new viewers and provide existing fans with another reason to watch a movie that went way beyond anyone’s wildest imagination.
