The trailer of Main Vaapas Aaunga was finally unveiled in Mumbai today, and it was much more than a regular trailer launch. This trailer launch was an event of emotion, heartfelt moments, laughter, and memories of love and stories, all themes that are central to Imtiaz Ali’s new film. Featuring Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina, the film is set against the backdrop of Partition and follows a story that transcends generations, combining love and loss, longing, and the search for a home.
The cast and director were in attendance for the event, however, many were inquisitive about Diljit Dosanjh’s absence from the event. However, he was able to join the festivities via a video message. In his message to the audience, he stated, “Hello folks, this is Diljit Dosanjh. Love and greetings to all.” Explaining why he could not attend, he added, “I am in Texas, so I could not come.” He also playfully ended his message with, “Jaldi Main Bhi Vaapas Aaunga.” The video message was met with laughter in the audience and was a fitting way to complement the title of the film.
Naseeruddin Shah plays a Sikh gentleman in the film and was really excited to collaborate with Imtiaz Ali. He spoke warmly about working with him and appreciated his storytelling vision. The veteran actor mentioned that he was very connected to the film, and based on the trailer alone, his character has a lot of emotional weight related to the narrative. He is quiet on screen, but his presence is very powerful.
The younger actors brought a lot of energy and fun to the event too; Sharvari and Vedang Raina had such great chemistry together, which has now carried over into their off-screen relationship as well! Sharvari jokingly referred to herself and Vedang as “Alia Paglus”, which refers to their bond during their work experience together, while Vedang reacted with equal warmth and admiration. For the uninitiated , Vedang shared the screen space with Alia in the film Jigra, Sharvari is all set to share the screen space with her in their upcoming YRF movie, Alpha. Vedang and Sharvari’s rapport with one another really added a nice touch to the event and mirrored the chemistry that audiences are already seeing between them on the big screen.
For Imtiaz Ali, Main Vaapas Aaunga feels like another return to the emotionally layered storytelling that audiences have loved him for over the years. The trailer will take you on a journey of romance, separation, and memories that last through time. The music is provided by A.R. Rahman again, and this will be their second film together since “Amar Singh Chamkila.” Expectations are high with the response from today’s launch showing that people are excited about the journey ahead.
