Kangana Ranaut calls Kriti Sanon’s Rakhi ad ‘Creepy’, Kriti responds!
Kangana Ranaut, who is known for expressing her thoughts openly, has once again caught the attention of the media as she has shown her concern regarding the latest advertisement of Kriti Sanon on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The actress and politician reacted strongly to the campaign, calling it “creepy” and questioning the outfit worn by Kriti in the ad.
It all started with the campaign of Raksha Bandhan where Kriti was seen celebrating the festival by wearing an ultra-modern outfit. The entire campaign revolved around the theme of celebration and relationships between siblings. However, it was the outfit of Kriti that drew the attention of the audience. Kangana shared her views in her own unfiltered way and asked if such an outfit should be worn for the occasion.
“Will you wear a bikini while tying rakhi to your brother?” Kangana’s question led to even more disagreements regarding the campaign as the audience got divided on whether festivals should be celebrated traditionally or by giving them a new approach.
Taking to her Instagram account, Kangana wrote: “It’s a wonderful time to be a woman, our closets are full of variety of clothes, today’s woman is a global woman, from cocktail dresses to lehnga cholis, jeans to saris, bikins to salwar kameez, from all the options that are available to us today why would you tie your brother a Rakhi in your bikini/ undergarments? Where are all your styling options? Ha ha the advert looks intentionally creepy (sic)!”
Kriti, who is known for her fashion choices and on-screen persona, has now responded to Kangana’s remarks.
Taking to her social media account, the Mimi actress wrote: “The essence of festivals is not in the clothes you wear, it is in the emotions and meaning you hold for the traditions. Rakshabandhan is a bond of protection. My sister and I tie rakhi to each other. We know we can protect each other no less than a brother would have. We pray for each other’s health, happiness & long life. And for us, this prayer and promise extends to our dogs too! Afterall, they are family!”
“Also, when will we stop telling women what to wear??Ethnic fashion has evolved over the years, but still a woman’s respect for her culture is measured with just her clothes!! Culture & Traditions are in her heart, not in her neckline!” she added.
What was supposed to be a new take on Raksha Bandhan has turned into an unexpected controversy due to Kangana’s comment. Thus, with the message going viral, it is apparent that the advertisement featuring Kriti Sanon has turned out to be more than just another campaign.
