Brett Lee breaks silence on Preity Zinta dating rumours: “We were never more than friends” 

Rumors of an alleged romance between Australian cricket legend Brett Lee and Bollywood actress Preity Zinta have been circulating for years. However, the former fast bowler has finally decided to clear the air regarding the long-standing speculation.  

Lee said that he never had a relationship with a Bollywood actress and emphasized that his friendship with Preity was always amicable. Both were closely associated during Lee’s association with the IPL franchise, named Kings XI Punjab at that time and co-owned by Zinta.  

Recalling his time spent with the actress, Lee described Zinta as a close friend and appreciated her intellect and profession. He revealed that the rumors did not concern him since he was aware of the reality of their relationship. 

In an interview with Bombay Times, Brett spoke about the rumours and said, “Here’s your scoop – I never dated a Bollywood actress.”  He further added, “Preity Zinta and I were, and still are, great friends. She was the boss of the Punjab team back then. She’s an incredibly smart woman, and I have a lot of respect for her. Stories like that never bothered me because I always knew the truth. People can speculate all they want, but I never let it affect me.” 

The dating rumours had first gained attention when rumors stated that the two appeared together during the IPL matches often. Nevertheless, both Lee and Zinta denied having any such romantic relation and insisted that they were only good friends and colleagues. In fact, in an old social media post, Preity had also clarified the same and wrote: “I think being romantically linked to Brett every year is outdated and stale news now! So sorry to say folks NO NEWS here! FRIENDS yeesss,” she wrote on X (then Twitter). 

Now, not only did Lee clarify the earlier rumors but he also talked about his love for India and the memories that he has of the city and the people that he met there. 

In his most recent statement, Lee has made it clear that there can often be a good friendship without any kind of love affair behind it.
