The global workforce is set for significant change by 2030, driven by key trends outlined in the Future of Jobs Report 2025. Drawing insights from over 1,000 major employers across 55 economies, representing 14 million workers, the report highlights the impact of technological advancements, economic shifts, demographic changes, and the green transition. While 170 million new jobs (14% of today’s employment) are expected to be created, 92 million jobs will be displaced, resulting in a net growth of 7%, or 78 million jobs. This transformation underscores the need for businesses and workers to prepare for an evolving labour market.
Technology’s Role in Shaping Jobs
The global workforce is undergoing a major shift, and by 2030, 170 million new jobs are expected to be created worldwide. According to the World Economic Forum’s “Future of Jobs Report 2025,” which surveyed over 1,000 companies from 55 countries, technology will play a major role in this transformation. With the rise of artificial intelligence, automation, and digital technologies, employers are seeking more workers skilled in these fields. As a result, skills related to AI, cybersecurity, big data, and general tech knowledge will become crucial.
India’s Growing Content Creation Industry
A significant driver of this job growth is expected to be India’s booming content creation industry. With over 800 million active internet users, experts predict that by 2030, India’s content creation market will grow by 200%. This growth is anticipated to create massive job opportunities, particularly for content creators.
Economic Challenges and Job Market Shifts
Alongside technological advances, economic challenges like the rising cost of living will also reshape the labour market. Although inflation is expected to decrease, slower global economic growth may lead to the loss of 1.6 million jobs. To adjust, businesses will demand workers who are adaptable, creative, and resilient, able to cope with rapid changes in the marketplace.
Shifting Demographics and Job Opportunities
The changing global population will also influence job creation. In high-income countries with aging populations, there will be a surge in demand for healthcare workers, especially nurses. Meanwhile, in younger, lower-income nations, there will be greater demand for educators, particularly in higher education.
Job Creation vs. Displacement
By 2030, it is expected that 170 million new jobs will be created globally, while 92 million jobs may be lost. However, this will lead to a net job increase of 7%, or about 78 million new positions. Preparing for this shift will be key for both workers and employers.
Expert Insights on the Role of Content Creators
Experts also highlight the growing importance of content creators in the job market. In India, 99% of jobseekers expect a smooth job-search experience, often using multiple platforms. Content creators will help simplify this process by offering job-related tips and guidance. For example, “How-to” videos by creators are becoming a trusted resource, helping jobseekers navigate application steps with ease. According to HDFC AMC’s corporate trainer Hanspreet Kaur, these videos can reduce stress and boost confidence during the application process.
Social media expert Miti Shah further emphasizes the role of content creators in breaking down complex information and making it accessible and engaging for the audience. “They are experts in storytelling and know how to present educational content in a visually memorable way,” says Shah.
