NHAI plans to install QR Codes with Project details on Highways

National Highway Authority Of India (NHAI) plans to install QR (Quick Response) Codes on highway with project details and specific information for making ‘Ease of Commuting’ to national highway users. The codes will consist of specific information regarding the project and emergency helpline numbers for commuters using national highways.

The mentioned QR Code signboards will provide project highlights including  National Highway number, Highway chainage, project length, construction/maintenance periods, Contact numbers for Highway Patrol, Toll Manager, Project Manager, Resident Engineer, Emergency Helpline 1033, NHAI field office as well as details about nearby facilities like hospitals, petrol pumps, toilets, police stations, restaurants, distance to toll plaza, truck lay bye, puncture repair shop and vehicle service stations/e-Charging Station etc.

The placing of the QR Codes will be done at wayside amenities, rest areas, toll plazas, truck lay-byes, highway start/end points, and signages for the convenience of National Highway users. ​

The given initiative will not only help in providing information, but will also help in bringing transparency and road safety measures through easy access to emergency and local information while improving user experience on the highways around the country
