As Tesla’s presence in India grows, several high-profile Indian billionaires have already embraced the electric revolution, adding a Tesla to their luxury vehicle collections. From the first Indian to own a Tesla, Prashant Ruia, to tech moguls like Vijay Shekhar Sharma and Mukesh Ambani, these entrepreneurs have long been supporters of Elon Musk’s vision for a sustainable future. Here’s a look at five prominent Indian billionaires who already own a Tesla.

Prashant Ruia, the CEO of Essar conglomerate, the first Indian to own the Tesla in India. In 2017, Tesla Model X was imported into the country and was registered at the Tardeo Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Mumbai.

Riteish Deshmukh surprised his wife, Genelia D’Souza, with a Tesla Model X SUV as a special birthday gift. The sparkling red Model X comes equipped with two electric motors, generating a powerful 259 PS at the front and 503 PS at the rear. This high-performance electric vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, showcasing its impressive speed and power.

Mukesh Ambani In 2021 added Tesla Model S to his covey. The model is registered in the name of Reliance Industries Ltd. The car gives a maximum of 423 PS of power and a massive 660 Nm. The car can go from 0-100 km/h dash in just 4.3 seconds.

Mahesh Murthy, a passionate Tesla fan, booked two Tesla cars when the company began accepting orders from India. Late one night, almost in a sleepy haze, he paid $1,000 for each vehicle without fully realizing the commitment he was making.

Vishal Gondal, the CEO and founder of GOQii, is another fan who booked his Tesla without hesitation. When he saw a Twitter post in 2016 announcing that bookings were being accepted from India, Gondal immediately reserved his car, paying $1,000 on the spot.
