World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen won his maiden World Cup crown after beating India’s teenage sensation Praggnanandhaa R. in the tie-breakers of the final in Baku.

Securing a remarkable silver medal at the Chess World Cup, Praggnanandhaa triumphantly booked his spot in the prestigious Candidates Tournament, becoming the second Indian to achieve this milestone.

Praggnanandhaa might have lost the big final but the 18-year-old prodigy has indelibly carved his name in the history books of Indian chess. Pioneering his way to the final, he follows in the footsteps of Viswanathan Anand as the first Indian to reach such heights.
