Former NBCUniversal advertising chief Linda Yaccarino takes up the role of Chief Executive Officer of Twitter bringing forth the promise of exciting changes and innovations for this widely used social networking platform.

Linda Yaccarino has tendered her resignation as the Chairman of Global Advertising and Partnerships at NBCUniversal, effective immediately on Friday, May 12. In an announcement by Musk, it was revealed that Yaccarino will now focus primarily on business operations.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk has stepped down from his position as CEO of Twitter and will now assume the roles of Executive Chairman and Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In his new capacity, Musk will be responsible for overseeing product design and implementing new technologies on the platform. Both Musk and Yaccarino are expected to assume their new positions in approximately six weeks’ time.

According to reports, Twitter’s advertising revenue has witnessed a significant decline since Musk assumed the role of CEO. This downturn has been attributed to various factors, including shifts in Twitter’s content guidelines, leading many advertisers to temporarily halt their ad spending on the platform. It is worth noting that the new CEO of Twitter brings with them a wealth of experience, boasting approximately 30 years in the advertising industry.

She made her first comments about her new role as Twitter’s new CEO, a day after Elon Musk announced her appointment. Yaccarino quote-tweeted Musk, thanking him and saying: “I’ve long been inspired by your vision to create a brighter future. I’m excited to help bring this vision to Twitter and transform this business together!”

Yaccarino has been with NBC Universal since 2011. She has also worked in the company’s cable entertainment and digital advertising sales division. Before NBC, she worked 19 years at Turner in different executive roles.
